HD Brows

  • Follow your therapist’s recommendations and avoid tweezing in between appointments.

  • Avoid make-up and facial cleansers around the brow area for 24 hours.

  • Avoid prolonged contact with direct sunlight, the use of sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and swimming pools for 24 hours after the procedure.

  • Avoid exfoliating and anti-ageing products around the brow area for 3 days either side of treatment.

  • It is advised not to use any fake tanning products on the face for 2 to 3 days either side of treatment. If you do wish to use a fake tan product on your face use a barrier to the hair and small area around the brow prior to tanning to prevent discolouration of your tint.

  • Remember your results will be darker and more defined immediately after your treatment. The make-up applied is not permanent and tint will fade depending on the frequency of cleansing.

  • You must inform your HD Brow stylist immediately should you experience any swelling, itchy rashes, bruising, skin grazing or cuts after your treatment, so they can advise you on the correct procedure to follow.

  • Please do not use a sunbed for 24 hours before having a wax, and refrain from using Retin A derived products for 5 days before, as these will compromise the skin.

Lashes

 Lash Extensions

  • Please attend for your appointment with no eye make up lash glue or Mascara on your lashes

  • Washing your lashes daily is by far, the most important eyelash extension aftercare instruction. We recommend an oil free makeup remover/cleanser, we stock these in salon if required.

  • Avoid oily products around the eye area and lashes as it compromises the glue used and may reduce lasting power of lashes.

  • Avoid touching eyelash extensions or rubbing eyes. The oils or lotions from your hands can reduce lasting power of  the extensions.

  • We recommend avoiding extreme heat, swimming, sun beds and saunas for 24/48 hours to allow glue time to dry fully and increase lasting power of the lashes.

  •  We recommend gently brushing your lashes with a clean spoolie everyday, as some may turn from sleeping on them or gather together. Mascara wands/spoolies are available online and in salon if required

  •  Avoid wearing mascara and heavy eyeliner, in particular waterproof products, as they affect the lasting power of the lashes.

  • Keep your lashes dry for the recommended 24-48hrs after treatment.

  • No picking, pulling, or rubbing your extensions.

  • Do not curl or trim your lashes.

  • We recommended returning to the salon for lash refills no longer than 3-4 weeks post-treatment.

Lash Lift

  • Avoid rubbing your eyes after treatment.

  • Do not get the lashes wet, use any oily products or eye makeup for 24 hours after treatment to allow the lashes to set and increase their longevity

  • Avoid swimming, sunbeds, saunas and steam rooms for the first 24/48 hours.

  • Remove eye makeup gently with non-oily remover, available in salon for purchase if required

  • Gently brush your lashes daily with a clean lash brush/spoolie. These are available to purchase online or in salon if required.

  • Avoid rubbing or touching the eye area as you could irritate the eyes.

  • Don't spend too long in direct sunlight straight after your treatment, as this could weaken the perm lotion.

  • If redness or irritation occurs, apply a damp cotton wool compress.

  • Effects will start to diminish within 4-6 weeks as hair grows out.

Nails

Acrylic & Gel Nails

  • Correct after-care will maintain your nails and keep them looking good for longer. It will also reduce the risk of damage and infection to the natural nail.

  • Rubber gloves should be worn to protect extensions from harsh household cleaning products and tinted lotions.

  • Use a good quality cuticle oil twice a day to soften the cuticles and nourish the natural nail.

  • Never use your nails as tools.

  • Do not pick or bite your extensions as this can cause breakage/lifting, as well as damage to the natural nail plate.

  • Return to the nail technician to have any breakages repaired. Never use adhesive to stick down a broken nail as this can encourage bacterial infections.

  • Always use a base coat if applying polish to your extensions to avoid yellowing.

  • Use a non-acetone remover, as recommended by your nail technician to remove polish, as acetone can be damaging to extensions.

  • Book regular appointments to maintain your extensions and keep them looking their best, do not leave any longer than 3-4 weeks.

  • If you experience any redness or inflammation around the nails please contact your nail technician immediately.

  • Keep your hands moisturised and looking beautiful by using a good quality hand cream recommended by your nail technician.

  • Have your nail extensions professionally removed to avoid damage to your natural nail.

  • Do not file the artificial nails or try to remove them yourself as it may cause damage to the natural nails. Come back to the salon and we will do it for you.

Two Week Polish / Shellac

  • Wear gloves when doing manual jobs like household cleaning and gardening or hobbies that are rough on your hands or involve using harsh chemical products. Doing these things without protection can damage your polish and reduce its longevity.

  • We recommend that if your nails chip or lift at an edge of your 2 week manicure, please do not pick or pull at the area, as this will increase the damage. Contact your therapist so that we can assess the nail and decide if a repair is necessary.

  • We advise if you are going on holiday to please be careful when using sun tan oils or insect repellent solutions as many of these products contain solvent oils which will cause damage to the 2 week polish colour coat.

  • Some of the more delicate two week polish colours can fade if in chlorinated water followed by excessive sun (remember that chlorine is a bleach and sun intensifies the bleaching action). Dry your hands and nails after swimming and before sunbathing to minimize any colour fading.

  • It is recommended that you apply a cuticle oil twice a day or in the evening before bed to help moisturise, we sell these online and stock them in salon if required.

  • We advise you to come back to get your 2 week polish/shellac removed professionally to avoid damage to the natural nail.

  • Don’t bite pick or file your nails as this will damage the polish or cause the layers of the polish/nail to separate thus reducing life of polish

Electrolysis

First and foremost, please ensure that you keep the treated area meticulously clean and dry for the first 48 hours post treatment.

It is important to take extra care of the treated area, especially within the first 48 hours* of treatment. This will give the skin a chance to settle, allow the heat reaction in the skin to return to normal and prevent infection of the treated open follicles.

AFTER TREATMENT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE

  • Redness, swelling and sensitivity of the skin in the area which has been treated up to 48 hours*

  • The treated area and surrounding skin may feel hot for up to 48 hours*

  • Pin dot crusting or small scabs may appear within the treated area

  • The skin may itch as the healing process takes place

POINTS TO REMEMBER FOR 48 HOURS* AFTER TREATMENT

Skincare

  • Witch Hazel and Aloe Vera gel should be applied liberally using clean, damp cotton wool immediately after electrolysis to soothe, calm redness and prevent infection. Continue applying Aloe Vera gel for the next 21 days.

  • To prevent irritation and the spread of infection, do not pick spots or small blood scabs which may appear a couple of days after treatment and depending on the skin, may take between 7–21 days to heal. Fine blood scabs are a normal post reaction response to the treatment, especially in the initial stages of having electrolysis. The fine blood scabs develop by the dry cauterized blood in the base of the follicle rising up through the follicle. Do not pick the area at all.

  • For clients who have long hair, to reduce the risk of infected follicles, keep hair tied back off the face.

Avoid: Touching the treated area and do not pick any scabs that may form

Avoid: Self tans or fake tans as these can cause irritation to the skin, also avoid perfumes, and perfumed body lotions

Avoid: Direct sunlight, or sun bed treatment. If you must go out in the sun, use a high protection factor sunscreen of at least SPF 30 to avoid hyper pigmentation, especially on yellow based, Black and Asian skin types. Re apply in the middle of the day. UVA and UVB can cause pigmentation marks to appear on the treated area and wearing our SPF 30 will help to reduce this quicker, developing an even skin tone faster.

Avoid: Saunas, solaria, sun beds, jacuzzis and steam treatments as these can also cause pigmentation to develop

Avoid: Hot baths, showers

Avoid: Swimming

Avoid: Applying make-up to the treated area.

Avoid: Applying soap or perfumed products to the treated area

Avoid: Activities for 48 hours that stimulate blood flow following treatment

Avoid: Wearing tight or restricted clothing over treated body areas

POINTS TO REMEMBER WHILST HAVING ELECTROLYSIS

Use of Cleansing

  • When washing or cleansing use gentle un perfumed cream cleanser or facial wash, never use soap on the treated area as this will further dry the skin. Gently pat the area dry to avoid dislodging any fine scabs or crusts

Bleaching

  • If you would like to bleach the downy hair growth between treatments, do not apply bleach for at least 48 hours after electrolysis.

Re-growth

  • Do not pluck, tweeze, thread or remove hair with wax or depilatory cream remover between electrolysis treatments, as this will interrupt the hair growth cycle. It is safer to simply trim any noticeable unwanted hair with scissors

Pigmentation

  • Use a high protection factor sunscreen of at least SPF 30 to avoid hyper pigmentation, especially on yellow based, Black and Asian skin types. Re apply in the middle of the day. UVA and UVB can cause pigment marks to appear on the treated area and wearing our SPF 30 will help to reduce this quicker, developing an even skin tone faster.

Remember

  • Tell your Electrologist about any unusual reactions immediately in order that she may modify your treatment accordingly

THE CLINIC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CLIENT’S SKIN CARE POST ELECTROLYSIS TREATMENT

* NB: For most people, after-effects of the treatment normally clear within 48 hours. However, everyone is different, so please do not be alarmed if it takes a bit longer. If in doubt, please contact us.

Massage / Body Treatments

After your massage or body treatment, your body and mind are in a relaxed state. To ensure you receive maximum benefits from your treatment, it is recommended that you read and follow below:

  • Drink plenty of water after your treatment. This helps with dehydration, lost fluids, reduces fatigue, as well as helps eliminate toxins from your body.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine containing beverage for 12 hours, as they have dehydrating properties.

  • Avoid strenuous activity for the next 12 hours, to help your body relax and de-stress further.

  • Take time to do simple breathing exercise, for example the 4-7-8 breathing technique.

  • When sitting in front of a computer for longer than 20 minutes, stand up to stretch and gently warm up your joints. Fetch yourself a glass of water.

  • Massage treatments work best, when performed on a regular basis. Make sure to book your next session promptly.

Fat Dissolving Injectables

  • After treatment there may be slight redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or itching in the in the treated area. This is a normal result of the product/injection –the inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a day or two.

  • Small lumps may also occur and will go over a few days. Contact us if you are concerned.

  • Numbness and reduced sensation in the treated often occurs and can persist for several weeks/months after the treatment. This always resolves spontaneously with time.

  • The area can remain tender to touch several weeks after the treatment. Avoid anti-inflammatory pain killers such as Ibuprofen.

  • Rarely allergic reactions can occur, in the form of small lumps the size of a 1p piece. If that happens please contact me for advice.

  • You may apply an ice pack to the treated area to reduce the initial swelling.

  • Massaging Arnica gel into the treated area 3-4 time a day can also help with bruising and swelling, as can a compression garment.

  • If you have previously suffered from facial herpes, there is a risk that the injections could contribute to another eruption of herpes (cold sores etc.).

  • Do not wash the area or take a hot shower for 8 hours after the treatment.

  • Do not expose the treated area to intense heat e.g. sunbed, swimming, sauna, sunbathing or extreme coldness. A sauna before treatment can help to mobilise the fat. If it’s unavoidable to go into the sun, wear SPF 50 at all times.

  • Avoid heavy exercise for 48 hours after treatment, as sweating will cause you to excrete the solution from the skin, which will reduce the treatment effectiveness.

  • Eat extra fibre to bind toxins excreted in the digestive tract. Follow a low carbohydrate/high protein diet (such as steamed vegetables with

fish/chicken/meat and no bread or potatoes diet) for 72 hours post treatment. This is not mandatory, but will optomise results.

  • Avoid alcohol to facilitate the liver in the handling of the fat.

  • Stay well hydrated by drinking 2 litres of water a day for the next week

  • Following the procedure, a gradual reduction in the thickness of the fat layer will take place. You may start to see changes as early as three weeks after the treatment. Your body will continue naturally to process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your last treatment.

  • Depending upon the area to be treated you will need a course of treatments. One treatment will produce minimal results. Treatments can be carried out 4 weeks apart … or 2 weeks if you are having more than one body part treated simultaneously

  • Weight gain will prevent you from appreciating your full results. Maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine after your procedure can help prevent this.
